We're finished for now!

Yesterday my sister and I worked at finishing up as much of Mother's things as we're going to do for now.  We finished the kitchen, garage and the last of Mother's closets.  We were both totally wiped out, but done for now and it feels good!  Of course, when Bert moves into a retirement center or whatever, there will be a ton of work to do, in fact, if you were to walk into the house you wouldn't realize at all how much we've taken out.  'Most all of the decorative items are still in place and all of the furniture.  The kitchen is still quite usable with dishes and pots and pans, etc.  My sister followed me home yesterday.  First we stopped at Wag the Dog and gave them the last of Mother's clothes and then came here.  We unloaded her car into my guest room and dining room...what a mess! I still haven't unloaded mine, not sure where I'll put everything as there isn't room in the dining room at all and the guest room is quite stuffed!

We've set the dates for our yard sales.  Mine will be June 5th and my sister's June 19th.  Once that's done it will feel much better.  Except for the really good pieces, we'll donate to charity what doesn't sell.  The good stuff we'll market another way...the way still to be decided.

Friday, the 7th of May my sister and I went to the spaghetti supper at the Greek Church in Tallahassee.  Greek spaghetti is very different from Italian spaghetti, the herbs and spices used are intirely unique to Greek cooking.  Delicious!!!!  They give you so much that I can't imagine being able to eat it all in one sitting.  I got 4 good meals and 2 snacks out of mine, plus I ate the salad for breakfast one morning!  We'll certainly do that again!

My first tomato is ripening in the garden.  I didn't plant in the ground or in the hay bales this time...I've had such bad luck with that here...this time almost everything's in pots and looking good (as long as I water!).  When my sister and I got back here yesterday everything was looking pitiful.  We've had several days with temps hovering around 90 (yesterday it was above 90) and we've had no rain for a long while.  Thank goodness rain's in the forecast for the next few days, but I did water heavily yesterday just in case!

My friend Ann has sold her house and is moving to the coast the middle of June.  Sure will miss her.  Am having supper with her tonight, probably not again for a long while.  Sorta sad isn't it?  But, good for her...

I've really gotten into the Patricia Cornwell books lately...I've read 10 or so of them so far and have 4-5 more in reserve. I just hate the thought of finishing them!  But I am enjoying James Patterson, too and have several more of his to read.  Will have to find someone else to read soon, as I've really gotten back into reading.  Funny, I haven't read much of anything for the past few years and reading was such a passion for me all of my life.  Feels good to be doing it again!
